Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream for Extra-Dry Skin (1.7 oz $18.99) is described claims to “instantly quenches extra dry skin and keeps it looking smooth, supple and hydrated day after day. The unique gel-cream formula absorbs quickly, like a gel, but has the long-lasting, intense moisturizing power of a cream, for even extra dry skin. It boosts skin’s hydration level and locks it in all day.”
Although I have oily skin I typically use a combination of products for both oily and dry skin because it reduces excess oil production and keeps me balanced. Going in I knew this might not be the product for me since it was designed for extra dry skin but was still ultra curious. The timing could not have been better too. My water in-take wasn’t the best the week I tested this product. Whenever my water intake is low the first place it starts to show are under my eyes. I have fine lines but when I see some deep ones I can tell I’ve been slacking. I have a few other hydrating serums and gel-creams that I usually just apply under my eyes and the next day I look like myself again. When I used this product I saw a subtle improvement but not the huge difference. When I used it all over for a few nights I just found it to be too heavy and simply sit on my face but I didn’t get the suppleness I was hoping for. My skin loves hyaluronic acid but with it being so far down on the list of ingredients it is no surprise I didn’t get the results I was yearning for. For the most part the reviews across the board have been positive, with some issues of complaints about the matte finish. I didn’t notice a matte finish it’s didn’t leave a sheen or youthful glow. I’m going to pass this product along to my grandmother and see if she loves it and most likely do a part two of this post.
