OGX Miracle In-Shower Oil Wasn’t The Miracle I Was Hoping For
I totally blame curlBOX for this! I’ve been seeing the new OGX Miracle In-Shower Oil all over Instagram and Twitter and just had to try it. As you know from my coconut oil post last week I shower before showering every other day to help prevent over drying so trying a new in-shower oil is right up my alley. Described as a “multitasking oil enriched with a precious blend of argan oil of Morocco plus silk proteins that can be used daily for various areas including hydrating and nourishing skin, smoothes split ends and as an enhancement to conditioner”. After hunting it down for a few days I was able to snag the last bottle left on the shelf at Ulta.
How to use:
Pre-Shampoo: In a steamy shower, apply a few drops to dry and damaged hair prior to shampooing. Let the steam warm the oil and penetrate into your strands. Shampoo as usual. Moisture Boost: Add a few drops of oil to your shampoo in the palm of your hand. Mix by rubbing hands together and shampoo as usual.
Conditioner Boost: Add a few drops of oil to your conditioner in the palm of your hand, apply from roots to ends, leave in 2-3 minutes and rinse.
Leave-In: Apply a few drops and evenly distribute to towel dried/damp hair. Style as desired.
On Body: Apply to dry skin (in or out of shower), massage in thoroughly. For best results, use on damp skin immediately after you shower.
Since I’m not due for a wash right now I decided to start by testing it as an in-shower oil for the body post shower. I applied it before getting in the shower and as expected it was silky. It was slicker than I thought it would be. It was like rubbing hair serum all over my body. I kept thinking, “I have Paul Mitchell’s Super Skinny in the product closet.” Another thought that drifted through my mind was “I really paid $8.00 for this little bottle when coconut oil is $6 for 16 oz.” I wasn’t regretting the purchase…. just doing some thinking. I jumped in the shower and used my SheaMoisture African Black Soap Body Wash as usual and that’s when sh*t got weird. I’ll be the first to admit that I tend to use wayyy too much body wash. I have to see the soap. I have to smell that soap. I have to feel that soap. It was like I didn’t use any body wash at all, not in a low foam type of way either. Since I could still feel the shower oil I ended up rinsing and washing again. Even with the second wash it seemingly “ate” or “dissolved” the soap. When I got out of the shower I didn’t notice much of a difference with my skin so applied the OGX Miracle In-Shower Oil on damp skin. It has a nice soft slightly clean and floral fragrance but it doesn’t last long which is fine by me. It very much so feels like a hair serum which I just can’t get with.
