OPI Fifty Shades of Grey Nail Polish Collection Review and Swatches
One can never have too many gray nail polishes. That’ my story and I’m sticking to it.
OPI Fifty Shades of Grey 6-piece Collection is being released to coincide with the film’s release just in time for date night. This is my first time swatching with mini bottles so try to cut me a break on the camera angles lol. I see why friends frown there face whenever we talk about mini bottles (from any brand) but for the OPI sets in particle it’s odd. The brushes are tiny versions of the wide brushes we love, the top feel small, holding the miniature bottles feels awkward, and the shade names’ aren’t on the bottles. But we can’t complain too much because they are an affordable option for some.
When you click on each image to enlarge the pics you’ll notice that all the shades with the exception of “Romantically Involved” and “My Silk Tie” have light patches. At first I thought it was because I was working with a smaller brush. That idea was quickly tossed out since I wear plenty of other brands that use a small or thin brush. Unfortunately, it’s the formula. Most of these shades would require 3-4 thin coats which is disappointing because I love gray nail polish. I think gray to be modern, kind of edgy, versatile, and can work on all skin tones. Plush I love wearing all black and it gives me a break from just black nail polish. I would recommend holding off on this collection and look for dupes unless you’re a fan of the film (or OPI which I am) and must have this set.
The collection will be available beginning January 2015 for a limited time only.
Nail lacquers will retail for $9.50 ($11.50 CAN) each at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Chatters, Dillard’s, Regis, ULTA and ulta.com.
